On Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary, everyone will be reflecting more so than ever on our relationship with the planet.
Millions across the globe will be drawing their attention to the challenges the earth faces and highlighting the importance of the health of the planet.
While we find ourselves having to spend more time than ever before indoors, the team at Silver Mountain have been compiling a list of tips on how to be kind to our environment and our home:
1. Introduce a houseplant to your home
They produce oxygen and promote a better mood.
2. Unplug appliances when not in use
Your household appliances are wasting energy even when they’re not turned on! Instead of leaving things like your coffee makers, toasters, and even your lamps plugged in indefinitely, make an effort to unplug when you’re not using them.
3. Turn off your tap
Do you know that you could save up to 37 litres of water a day if you turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. Those 20 seconds you are spending singing happy birthday while scrubbing your hands, turn off the tap.
4. Re-use and repurpose
Empty plastic jars and other food containers don’t need to be thrown away. Jars can become drinking glasses or even small serving bowls. Larger containers can be used to store other items like loose change or things that might just be sitting in your junk drawer.
5. Get Cooking
Practising those hidden talents and creating positive vibes with your amazing culinary skills isn’t just a way to pass the time during the lockdown. It might even have an impact on our eating habits once we are out of this and come out the other side.
Enjoy the rest of Earth Day in your own way.
